Plant Based Alfredo Sauce In 4 Simple Steps
The other day, as we were browsing through Pinterest, we found a life-changing hack.
Instead of waiting 24 hours, or “overnight”, for our cashews to soak, we found out that boiling them would give you the same end product.
Mind = blown.
This completely changed the game for us in such a good way!
We’re kind of on the fly cooks, we don’t really plan much ahead in terms of meals. That’s because we have a base line grocery list that ensures our fridge and cabinets are filled with things we can make meals out of.

Being able to quickly prepare the necessary ingredients for this delicious Alfredo on the spot was a huge find for us.
And as plant-based eaters, you’d think that Alfredo or any creamy sauces would be out the question. But there are incredibly versatile plant-based ingredients that can be converted into delectable creaminess.
It helps to have a powerful blender or food processor to mix up the ingredients well.
But for a fair warning: after trying nutritional yeast, you will be addicted.
We’ve used a few different kinds of pasta with this sauce, and have never been disappointed with any of our choices. Sometimes we just add roasted vegetables, like asparagus or broccoli, a few other times we have added Tofurky sausages.
Like many of our other recipes, this sauce is really yours to take.
Tip: Add fresh parsley to your sauce for extra freshness and herb flavor.

Rich and easy Alfredo sauce.
- 1 cup cashews
- 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1/2 onion (white or red)
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Boil 1 cup of cashews in water for 10 minutes
Sautée diced onion in a pan with olive oil (or water) until fully cooked
Drain cashews and add them to a blender or food processor (we use @thenutribullet)
Add cooked onions, fresh garlic, vegetable broth, and spices, then blend together until creamy
Add less or more vegetable broth for preferred creaminess
